Like many a young girl I was bitten by the “pony bug” early (blame it on My Little Pony) and luckily my parents obliged and enrolled me in riding lessons. From the moment I started I was hooked and a few months into my lessons at the ripe old age of 5 I went to my first horse show (as pictured above).
I showed one of the lesson horses and realized that this was awesome and I needed my own pony. I started with a POA named Little Mischief Britches and eventually as my age and skill level progressed I moved up to riding and showing Paint Horses. I competed in Showmanship, Horsemanship, Equitation, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Hack, Western Riding, Trail and Halter. I showed until about half way through college, retired my gelding and took a hiatus while I finished college, opened and closed my own business (a women’s clothing store) and got married. I am getting back into riding and showing with a new paint mare by Slightly Zipped.
Besides absolutely loving horses I also love all the stuff that goes with them. I have always been a bit of a “horse stuff guru” constantly finding and trying new things from saddle pads to tack to fly sprays to grooming products to hats and boots, you name I have tried it or will give it a try. So I decided to start this blog to catalog all of the various horse related items I use, love and have tried, to better help you decide what you need in your barn. All products have been used by me and my obliging mare (nicknamed J-Lo) as well as used in my parent’s 50 horse 100 acre horse ranch.
If you have any questions or want me to try a particular product or help find the perfect item please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also check out my fashion blog The Clotheshorse at www.clotheshorseok.wordpress.com.
